Does it ever occur to you?

Postby Lyudmila » Mon Jan 15, 2018 5:01 am

Do you sometimes think about all the time spent(wasted) on stitching? In fact we devote hours/days/weeks/moths of our one and only life to sitting and digging the fabric. Yes, our descendents will value the stitched pieces for a generation or two but that will be all. Yet there is something about the very process of stitching that one cant resist. The moment I see a decent chart, I forget all the above -mentioned and rush for my needle and threads and a piece of nice fabric.

The question actually is as follows: do you sometimes/often/never think about stitching being time consuming? :)]

No not really. As a matter of fact I have frequent thoughts as to how much I still would love to do and know I'll never have enough time.. ;;}( @};-

What else would I be doing? Eating myself into larger clothing? Seriously, I played Sudoku to the point that I don't want to look at it anymore, burned myself out on regular crossword puzzles before I was 25, have no intention of ever doing another jigsaw puzzle (a solid orange puzzle was my last), and am generally bored by the puzzles and games that I did years back. I like spending my time creating something. I always have some type of stitching going, though these days it's not as much cross stitch as it is knitting and crochet. Just last week my granddaughter told me that the twins needed hats to fit their "bowling ball" (her words) heads and more knee socks and the older one wants matching hat and legwarmers.
Wasted time? Not a bit.

House cleaning is the real waste of time ! You do it and how long does it stay clean?At least with stitching /crafting I have something pretty to show for my time. I also think the peace of mind that comes from working with your hands is far better for you than fretting over things. It is calming ( generally LOL ) to stitch !

I totally agree with you Leslie! Housework is the waste of time! THU{}
I believe stitching, knitting, whatever hobby you do, is good for your soul. And I think that is very important for your health.

It keeps me awake! Gi{{ I have found that I will get dozy around 8 o'clock at night if I'm not doing anything except watching TV. Stitching at night keeps me from falling asleep in my chair in front of the TV.

I agree with others - I hate housework! It doesn't help that my mother used me as a slave growing up. As soon as us kids got old enough to do something, she did NOTHING unless she felt like it and that was occasional cooking and not-so occasional sewing or other crafts.

As far as my stitching or other crafts/hobbies -- it's my time to use as I wish. I would no more tell any of you that you waste your time on crafts than I would expect anybody to tell me such.
There's no such thing as a stupid question!
