I've tried it, and I didn't like it.

The main reason is, that I prefer to fold my stitching over my finger.
I do that, because I always do the down and up stitch in one move.
It is so easy, and it means I can stitch a lot faster - almost half the time.

I stitch mostly in hand and when it is a larger project, i use hoop. I have my lamp in front of me, with pattern, scissor, floss, needle, and the fabric,i am sitting at my desk, and here i go!
I already used only the wood frame, when i did tapestry, nothing on the floor, no support. That was very large project. ;;}(
