A question to the staff

Postby Lyudmila » Thu Oct 05, 2017 11:07 am

How many kilobites make 600 pixels? I tried to upload a picture straight from my gallery and this site seems not to mind it, but wants it to be not more than 600 pixels. My pictures are in kilobites, so what to do? To cut them to what size?

Thank you in advance for any help

I'm not staff but I might be able to help.

The 600 pixels is probably one direction. It's often listed as 600 X 400 pixels. Its the visual size, not the actual file size.

Look at the image in something like Irfanview or Paint and you can see the pixel dimensions. There are re-sizing options to reduce the size if needed. Be careful to keep the same length/width ratio or the image will appear squashed or squeezed.

Thank you, Diane. (*) I am sorry I used a wrong word- a foreigner remains a foreigner. I meant a moderator or admin or whoever knows the answer to the question.

Now I see that without Son's assistance I cant do that. He resizes photos for me. Cant wait to try if I am right and I will manage to eventually put it here straight from my gallery.
Thank you again for the answer and explanation. @};-

In that sense, so am I. This site is based in Canada. Gi{{

Ellen's site was based in Austria and the staff was from all over the world! For a while, we even had one mod from Chile. I didn't realize how far EAST South America goes until then. She was only 1 hour behind me! She was Central time while I am Eastern time.

Thank you very much, dear Admin. >}[

The only place where my being computer stupid makes me feel great- instead of laughing and scrutinizing, everybody tries to rescue me. How can one not love this place after that?!
