Re: An off stitching question

I agree with Bea. I've never heard of anything like this. I do know - in the US, conventions and traditions for funerals can vary widely throughout this large country. For example: In Oklahoma, it is standard to have open hours for visitation at the funeral home and you just sign the guestbook. You ...

Re: Miracles or my stupidity?

Every time I try to click on someone's photobucket link, I get a nasty message to turn off my adblocker. I refuse to do that -- that's the reason it's there! I do have it turned off for a few necessary sites (like my email) but not to look at a photo. I'm sorry but that means I won't be able to enjo...

Re: Daffodils

Daffodils are my favorite flower. They were the first sign of spring in February growing up in Oklahoma. We had them growing along the side of the house. Thanks.

Re: How many strands?

That's a form of afghan fabric and it's not normally done over 2. That's usually 14 count and you would stitch it like any 14 count fabric. If you were stitching over 2, that would be like 7 count and that would be huge stitches -- makes 10 count look small! It looks similar to the afghan fabric I w...

Re: How many strands?

What kind of afghan? Are you talking about stitching over a crocheted or knitted afghan? That would take more strands. If you're talking about the afghan fabric that's designed for cross-stitch, it's a whole new ball of wax! Afghan fabric is usually marked for 14 or 18 count and then you would use w...

Re: What turns a WIP into a UFO ...

I was "de-kitting" the cat afghan project tonight and had a thought! I would have lost one whole block/row with the afghan from the fabric I have. I can use it, as is, as a lightweight afghan. I can frog out the blocks I did over time. I have a lot of projects I've done over time that I ne...

Re: What turns a WIP into a UFO ...

:\| The more I stitch, the more I believe that UFOs are projects which should not have been started on. I agree with this statement. Maybe part of the reason I got going on the cat afghan project in the first place was I got mad. I had ordered it from a catalog as a kit. That was about the time I g...

What turns a WIP into a UFO ...

besides losing it? Gi{{ I posted in another thread that a WIP that was about 15 years old was gonna get worked on. I tried. I really did! However, it didn't take long for me to realize WHY it had been put aside as a WIP in the first place (besides it being rather hot to hold an afghan on your lap in...

Re: I wonder

Welcome to the world of forums. "Lurkers" (what those who browse but don't post are called) are the most common type of user. Many of them are new users to computer and feel shy. Many feel they don't have something important to say (WRONGO!!!!!) and don't want to appear foolish - even with...

Re: A request: EMS free garden alphabet chart

That garden alphabet was very very long ago and was issued month by month on Ellen's site. However, even though free, it is still copyrighted. It was more than the alphabet. Lower case letters and special pieces like a border and bees and such were added at the end. It's probably on a lot of illegal...
